MP raises case for Melksham Hospital to be revived in first week of parliament
Melksham and Devizes MP, Brian Mathew has been sworn in as our Member of Parliament and has already raised the case for Melksham Hospital to be revived.
Brian said:
“It was a whirlwind week getting to know my way around the parliamentary buildings, meeting officials and receiving some excellent induction on life and work as an MP. I aim to have an office and staff team set up as soon as possible, but meanwhile I’m busy responding to enquiries from constituents as best I can.
“My first priority has been to raise the case for the revival of Melksham Hospital. People have to travel miles to Bath or Swindon for routine tests, treatments and injuries that could be handled locally.
“I have written to the Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting, asking for a meeting about the hospital and also to the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board, which manages our local NHS services. I am in contact with the local Friends of the hospital, and hope to meet with them soon.”
